Can you hunt with sks

It would be good to hear from anyone who has successfully hunted with one. Mine is accurate enough but noisy to cock and the safety isn't really one. Would think that being close enough to the prey makes it too noisy to cock and you get spotted. However, just speculating, never hunted with mine. Makes a good camp gun for wolves. Full Curl Earl.
