Can i get incontinence pants on the nhs
You could ask for a continence clinic referral, but if there's no continence issue as such, ie if her bladder is working normally then your GP probably wouldn't refer. The pads available on prescription are usually the type you see in hospitals, big flat things that your mum may not like anyway if she prefers Tena. Also there's usually a limit, in my area the nhs will only provide upto four pads a day, extras must be funded privately.
I used to be addicted to the hokey-cokey but I turned myself around, and that's what it's all about! It says that if you are assessed as needing the products, you should have "as many as you need" so there should be no rationing. If there is, make a formal complaint - don't accept the argument of "that's the rules". The website also talks about people who are not incontinent as such, but have difficulty physically getting to the toilet, so have a look.
My wife also cannot get to the toilet on her own and as far as I know you cannot get these on prescription. I buy a product from Boots called Depend. They are actually knickers and Joan my wife finds them very comfortable. She in not incontinent, but sometimes accidents do happen and with these there is no leakage. Hi Michael, I had the same issue with my mum. Search titles only. Search Advanced search…. Everywhere Threads This forum This thread.

Can I get incontinence products for Dad on the nhs? Thread starter workerbee Start date Aug 8, Jul 16, 32 0. Hi everyone Dad seems to be developing a continence problem. Washing machine on overtime and threatening to blow a fuse dread looking at the electricity consumption monitor, it is permanently frowning!!
Washing machine seems to be on all the time anyway with household of 6 and little boy with autism and youngster who regularly wets the bed.
Feel nauseous at the thought of the tumble dryer having to join in over the forthcoming winter. Can I get bed pads, adult 'pull ups' through the GP does anyone know please? Are they usually difficult to get a prescription for? Not really up to another battle for anything at the moment. Too tired!! Thank you all for your help.

Then I waited and waited for a district nurse to assess my husband. I went to the incontinence clinic after 5 months and complained. They said they would sort it out. If you have mild to moderate incontinence you can buy thin, discreet pads or pull-up pants for men and women from many supermarkets and pharmacies.
For people with severe leaks, continence clinics and district nurses can supply incontinence pads on the NHS, but these tend to be big and bulky. They stay damp and they can make your skin sore," says Logan. Placing a tampon in your vagina puts pressure on the neck of your bladder to stop leaks on exertion. However, do not regularly use super-size tampons to prevent sudden leaks if you have stress incontinence.

Designed with adhesive backs to hold them securely in place, the pads feature cushioned uppers to keep you comfortable. They are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and absorbencies to suit your needs and body shape. Pads are a disposable option for those experiencing urinary incontinence. Always discreet pads have an absorbent core that turns liquid to gel, locking in the moisture and keeping your body dry as you wear them.
Incontinence pants are designed to replace your underwear whilst offering protection from leaks, odour and moisture. Many of the pants mimic normal underwear so much so that they are in fact washable and reusable, meaning that you can easily make them a part of your daily routine.
The majority of pants feature a secure side closure or pull-up fit with comfortable elastic waists.
